i haf a colleague who haf leukaemia n her siblings' bone narrow dun match wif hers.
she required platelets donation... n in a dae... the colleague beside mi look at me wif de wad-shld-i-do or can-u-help look telling me tat she need de platelets for 3 times.
its nt tat i dun wan to help... bt i can't coz below is the requirement for platelets donors...
- Be between 18 to 45 years old.
- Weigh at least 50kg. --> i m nt 50kg yet!!!
- Be in good health and not been on any medication (eg antibiotics, aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs) for the last 72 hours.
- Have a good prominent veins on both forearms that can hold up against the suction of the blood separator machine. For this reason, male donors are preferred.
- Go through a medical screening.
